What is a WebQuest?
A WebQuest is an online learning map to further a student's knowledge of a particular subject. It can be a lengthy subject with many areas to explore or it can be single endeavor designed for one educational goal. It can be used by a group or an individual but I believe the best feature of a WebQuest is its organizational layout. I like to compare a quality WebQuest to a treasure map. Upon completing a WebQuest the student will hopefully have a new understanding of an unfamiliar topic.
Key Components of a WebQuest
Qualities Of An effective WebQuest
Five quality WebQuests:
Preparing Quality PowerPoint Presentations I like this WebQuest because it had good information to help the student create a simple power point. This seems geared to the younger student or the first time adult student as the tasks are straightforward and not too difficult. http://questgarden.com/16/10/3/060208202646/process.htm
Dealing with Underprepared/Disruptive Students This WebQuest allows for many areas of research. Even though the color was a bit bold it was okay because the font, subject matter and clear instructions were appealing. It also gives a variety of tasks to suit the learners tastes.

The WebQuest, Chosing Your Future is interesting in that the tasks allow for creativity on the part of the student. It challenges the student that by exploring a particular college and creating a brochure, he/she is learning about the college itself. The introduction was very informative.
